It is a great pleasure to invite you to the 5th Clinical Neuroscience Course (CNC). Following a successful series of courses held in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019, we had to postpone our 5th course for a while due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Our course will be organized by the Deep Brain Stimulation Society (DBSociety) and the National Society of Deep Brain Stimulation with contributions from Atlas University. The name of our course series for this term is determined as "Translational Deep Brain Stimulation: Mechanisms, clinic and technology".
As you are all aware, Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) has become increasingly popular for a long period of time now in medicine and technology. Although Deep Brain Stimulation comes to mind as an electric therapy in practical use; it, in fact, is a field that includes applications including electromagnetic, optical, ultrasound and nanoparticle-based methods. Among the disciplines engaged with this subject are Ethics, Neuroscience, Neurology, Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Neurotechnology, Engineering, and Psychology. We are pleased to announce to you that an International Association, which gathers many disciplines and fields under a single roof in accordance with the nature of deep brain stimulation applications, has recently been established by scientists working in different parts of the world, and a journal of this association will begin to be published. The main objective of this established Association is to promote the implementation of DBS by creating spaces for exchange such as webinars or face-to-face conferences. The DBS journal, on the other hand, will be published as a peer-reviewed international journal covering all topics in the DBS field such as clinical and basic science.
During our course, we aim to discuss the up-to-date information regarding clinical, experimental and technological aspects of DBS by combining it with experimental approaches. Within the scope of the course, which will consist of interactive lectures by faculty members and discussion groups, we aim to present a rich scientific program to the participants as well. Our course, which was held in Samsun previously, will be organized this year in Istanbul as per the dates 8-11 December 2022.
